NEW ERA UNIVERSITY SIGNS HISTORIC ACCORD WITH RUSSIAN NEWS AGENCY

Manila, Philippines – The New Era University (NEU) continues the triumphant journey towards its Golden Jubilee as it enters a historic accord with SPUTNIK News Agency (SNA). NEU and SPUTNIK, a Russian media company, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in a virtual ceremony last Friday, January 12, 2024, with the signing parties present at the NEU Boardroom in Quezon City, Philippines and SPUTNIK Media Room in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Alberto R. Domingo, Jr., the University President, represented NEU while the SPUTNIK News Agency was represented by Mr Vasily Pushkov, Director for International Cooperation, with Ms. Sophia Zagorskaya as moderator. Dr. Domingo is elated with the MOU between NEU and SPUTNIK and he hopes that the agency will lend a helping hand to the University in pursuing worthwhile journalistic endeavors so as to reinforce current journalistic practices and be kept abreast with the innovation in broadcasting and journalism in the digital age. “The University’s signing of MOU with SPUTNIK is a monumental move towards internationalization of NEU’s academic endeavors especially along the NEU-College of Communication’s aspiration to attain Level IV for the Bachelor of Arts in Communication together with its newly recognized programs in Broadcasting and Journalism,” Dr. Domingo said.

NEU President also said that “through this MOU with SPUTNIK, it is expected that programs would be implemented that would benefit both parties.” On the part of Mr. Vasily, representing SPUTNIK he reiterated the need for such an agreement so as to help develop budding journalists who will greatly value truth in journalism and broadcasting. Also present during the MOA signing were University Secretary Bro. Erwin Briones, Dr. Carlos Tabunda, Dean of the NEU School of International Relations (SOIR), Dr. Anne Marie P. Sta Ana, Dean of the NEU College of Communication (COC) and Bro. Ian Dela Peña of the NEU Russian Studies Center. New Era University is a non-stock, non-profit private learning institution catering to the need of the Filipino youth. The NEU Main Campus is located along Central Avenue, New Era, Quezon City with branches at the City of San Fernando, Pampanga; Lipa City, Batangas; General Santos City, Cotabato and Pinugay, Baras, Rizal.
