Dr. Genesis C. Rivera, Dean of the College of Music, was invited to give a lecture about disaster response in the recently held American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Convention in New Orleans, U.S.A. last October 19, 2012.

Dean Rivera's lecture focused on the Philippines' experience in the past years in responding to different disasters like typhoon. He also discussed what were lacking and what were done by the Philippine Government in disaster management. In addition, he enumerated the contributions of the Philippine Pediatric Society in giving a hand to the victims of these disasters. He ended his lecture by saying that, "We Filipinos don't let bad weather get us down."

Dean Rivera, aside from being the Dean of the New Era University College of Music, is a pediatrician by profession. He is also the immediate past president of the Philippine Pediatric Society, and an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pediatrics, St. Luke's College of Medicine.
