
JURIS DOCTOR (J.D.)
It is the basic degree in legal education, and presupposes a collegiate or university bachelor’s degree, as earlier prescribed. It is classified as ‘professional doctorate’ degree, but not entitled the title ‘Dr.’, reserved for holders of academic and research doctorate degrees.(LEBMO No. 1, Series of 2011)
ADMISSION POLICIES
To qualify for admission to New Era University – College of Law, the applicant:
- Must be a citizen of the Philippines;
- Must be of good moral character;
- Must be a graduate of a bachelor’s degree;
- Must have the aptitude and attitude to excel in law school; and
- Must not be a member of any fraternity, sorority, or any unauthorized organization.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND REQUIREMENTS
The New Era University – College of Law IS NOW accepting applicants for admission to the Juris Doctor program for Academic Year 2023-2024.
NOTE: With the change of the law curriculum on Academic Year 2022-2023, the NEU College of Law will NOT accept transferees from other law schools, unless the applicant undertakes to start fresh with a new residence in the NEU College of Law, under the new law curriculum.

II. SUBMISSION OF INITIAL REQUIREMENTS TO THE COLLEGE OF LAW

Send the following INITIAL requirements (digital/scanned copy) to law@neu.edu.ph:
SUBJECT LINE: Application for Admission_SURNAME, FIRST NAME
Should there be requirement/s that are not yet available, please (1) indicate in your e-mail the requirement/s that are lacking, (2) execute an undertaking (download form here) to submit said requirement/s once you received your endorsement for admission, and (3) attach your accomplished undertaking in your email, for your application to be processed, pending submission of complete requirements.

III. PAYMENT FOR ADMISSION EXAM FEE

Follow the Payment Instructions for the Admission Examination Fee.

IV. ONLINE ADMISSION ESSAY EXAM
|
To establish aptitude to excel in law school, the applicant must obtain a satisfactory rating in the Essay Exam.
Once payment has been verified, the Dean’s Office will inform the applicant via text and/or e-mail of the exam schedule and guidelines.

V. EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATION FOR ADMISSION
|
The Admission and Retention Committee of the College will evaluate the applicants’ requirements and performance in the Essay Exam. The Committee will issue the list of applicants recommended for admission to the College Dean. Thereafter, the Dean will act on the recommendation of the Committee.
The applicant will be advised of the next admission process through e-mail.
