ADMISSION FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN

JURIS DOCTOR (J.D.)

It is the basic degree in legal education, and presupposes a collegiate or university bachelor’s degree, as earlier prescribed. It is classified as ‘professional doctorate’ degree, but not entitled the title ‘Dr.’, reserved for holders of academic and research doctorate degrees. Aside from all the subjects of the Ll.B. curriculum, the J.D. curriculum shall prescribe additional subjects that may be taken as electives and require besides the writing of a J.D. thesis.

 

ADMISSION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a citizen of the Philippines;
  • Must be of good moral character;
  • Must be a graduate of a bachelor’s degree and must have earned 18 units of English, 18 units of Social Science, and 6 units of Mathematics, from his/her bachelor’s degree;
  • Must have the aptitude and attitude to excel in law school; and
  • Must not be a member of any fraternity, sorority, or any unauthorized organization.

 

ADMISSION PROCESS

I. ENTRANCE EXAM
(for incoming freshmen only)

Take the Philippine Law School Admission Test (PhiLSAT)
Registration online at www.philsat.com.ph

II. PANEL INTERVIEW

Submit the following requirements at the Dean’s Office (Rm 204, Professional Schools Building (PSB) for the schedule of panel interview:

  1. NEU-College of Law Online Application Form for Admission
  2. PhiLSAT Certificate of Eligibility
  3. 2 copies of 2×2 colored I.D. picture
  4. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
  5. Photocopy of Transcript of Records/Certificate of Grades
  6. 2 Reference Reports from the Dean or faculty member of former school, and/or employer/reputable source (download form here)

III. DEAN’S ENDORSEMENT
FOR ADMISSION

Obtain a satisfactory rating in:

  • the PhiLSAT or Permit for Conditional Admission/Enrolment; and
  • the Panel Interview
IV. CERTIFICATE OF ADMISSION
FOR ENROLLMENT

Submit the additional requirements to the University Registrar:

  • NEU-COL Dean’s Endorsement for Admission
  • Psychological Evaluation and Interview Rating
  • Medical Clearance/Certificate
  • 5 copies of 2×2 I.D. picture with printed name and signature of applicant at the back
  • Original & Photocopy of Transcript of Records
  • Transfer Credential Certificate/ Honorable Dismissal
  • NSO-Authenticated Birth Certificate
  • Certification of Good Moral Character from last school attended and/or employer
  • For INC Members – ‘Patotoo ng Lokal’
  • For non-INC Members – Recommendation Letter from:
    (1) an INC member; and
    (2) Locale Resident Minister of the INC Locale nearest to applicant’s residence attesting to his/her being a good and law abiding citizen; and good moral character.
